I
stand in awe of God who is so
loving
and kind and faithful and GOOD!!
It is with the deepest gratitude
and appreciation of my Lord and
Savior, Jesus, Messiah who made
this trip possible and Who was
with us every step of the way.
We arrived in Spain travel
weary, but excited and looking
forward to the days ahead. It
was a two hour ride to our
lodging from Malaga to San Roque.
As tired and hungry as we were,
we still were able to enjoy the
country side and the landscape.
Spain is a beautiful country and
is unique and very different
from the US. I have posted
pictures of our accommodations
and you will see that they were
quite comfortable. The weather
was Hot and humid the first few
days and then the humidity broke
for a few days and it was hot
and breezy, but nice. A lot of
the trip we just had sweat
pouring off us, especially in
Morocco; but the grace of God
was with us.
Our main mission was to help the
local Church and to evangelize.
An interesting point here is
that the churches we ministered
with and to were home churches
just like ours. We had times of
worship, prayer and Bible study
at the retreat center where we
stayed and most of the other
times, we were ministering. God
provided many opportunities for
us. Most of our time in Spain,
we ministered in a neighborhood
in Los Pastores. Every morning
we got up and went to the "play
area" and gathered the children.
We gave them gifts and candy
that we had brought from home
and them just played with them.
The kids fell in love with Eric,
Jess and Nate especially. While
they were playing and bonding
with the kids, a few of us had
opportunity to go into people's
homes and pray for the sick.
Words of knowledge flowed and
the Spirit encouraged the
people. We are waiting to hear
testimony regarding any healings
that took place. Nate and Jess
led in Worship songs in english
and they in turn sang some
worship songs in spanish. Henry
did his "Great Benefuci" acts,
riding on unicycle and just
making the kids laugh and then
would give a word of
exhortation. The next day as all
the kids were gathered and I
shared with them what it meant
to be a Christian and invited
them to give their lives to the
Lord. 90% of the kids responded
to the message and gave their
hearts and lives to the Lord.
The local church took over and
gave the children each a Bible.
Many of them did not have a
Bible prior to this. We came
back nearly everyday and built
relationship, prayed and studied
and worshipped with them. They
impacted our lives as much if
not more than we did theirs.
They opened their homes to us,
made meals for us and
sacrificially shared what they
had with us. It was truly
humbling and a great blessing.
One night we were invited to a
Church in Tarifa to minister at
a carnival type atmosphere. We
had dinner with them that hey
provided, worshipped with them
and then hit the streets. Henry
did is "performance" to gather a
crowd and then we handed out
tracks-some got into some good
and lengthy conversations and
seeds were sown. We prayed for
and ministered to the Pastor and
his wife and they were
encouraged again by the Spirit.
All this time Maritza, who was
the only person who spoke
spanish, was a very busy lady
being our translator, in
addition to the ministry of
prayer she provided. Another
night we all went into Gibraltar
and met friends of Scott
Gunderson, who was our host and
made the whole trip
possible-worked tirelessly and
selflessly may I add. These
friends (a dad, mom and son) who
were not only wonderful and
dedicated Christians, but were
born and raised in Gibraltar and
took us to great sights of
interest and shared many facts
about Gibraltar that we would
not have been privy to if not
for them. We went up the "Rock"
and made a stop where some apes
were and walked around with
them. Some were a family with a
baby ape, so tiny, so cute. Then
we went further up the Rock and
as we stood and east wind began
to blow and we watched as this
dark cloud moved in and
enveloped us. We were in the
midst of the cloud and we
watched it go down and cover the
valley. It was truly amazing.
They took us to dinner and we
got to know and love them. Mike
and I asked if we could come
back and worship with them and
we were invited to their home
church service on Sunday
evening. Mike, Carol and I
accepted. The rest of the team
ministered with a Pastor that we
had not yet met in a different
area than we had been in and
from what I hear, the response
of the people on the street was
fantastic. They were able to
pray for many and people were
responding with tears and
appreciation. While that was
going on, we were truly blessed
by the rich fellowship we had
with this family in Gibraltar
where we met others in the
family and the church. We
exchanged testimonies, they fed
us a wonderful homemade meal
where we fellowshipped some
more. Then we had a beautiful
time of worship and the spirit
of prophecy came forth. We
prayed for one another and
everyone was deeply encouraged.
We are so appreciative of this
kind and generous family who
touched our lives. We did have
one day to grocery shop and then
some of were dropped off at the
beach (some went off to shop for
souvenirs) where we swam in the
Mediterranean Sea with the rock
of Gibraltar behind us. The
water temp was perfect, and it
was clean and aqua in color. It
felt like a taste of Heaven.
